Reading & Meditation (Love) Rev. Christine Emmerling DD 2/11/2024

Today I’ve selected a reading from the Divine Science Daily Studies volume II. This one is by Martha Dawson.

“Ye know not what manner of spirit you are of.” Luke 9:55

Who am I? What am I? Why am I here? Often one asks these questions when he feels insecure, or perhaps even lost, in the great wilderness of the universe.

When I learn that I am a true child of our great omnipotent God and heir to all His wondrous universe. I open to this Greatness. I realize that I am created of God’s substance, that I am not only of the earthly but of “star-stuff.” How marvelous I am!

God did not only create me, but He also gave me the freedom to be myself. I accept His love and the cleansing power of His Being – in me. Life takes on a new joy. I know that He understands me; thus, I can let go of any self-condemnation. He knows my sincere desire to do the best I can.

A great assurance fills me with strength when I know I am free. I am in harmony with God; I am at peace with all my fellow men; I am calm in the face of all activity, even though it may appear to be negative.

I am free to serve and to love–that is my mission.

Meditation “Love”

We shall now move into meditation on “Love.” Let us turn inward to our holy temple, breathe deeply and slowly, and quiet our thoughts. As I speak to take these words within.

We love because he first loved us. - 1 John 4:19

God is love, and this Love is the one and only true power, and is everywhere present. Therefore, I am of this one true power of love. God’s love created me. God’s love sustains me. God’s love is living through me. I am a living expression of God’s pure love.

I now rejoice in the love of God. (Repeat)

The love that created me is equally present in all life. I can see this love joyously expressing in a child's smile and their eyes sparkle. As a dog wag its tail and wiggles all over. A cat all snuggled and purring in a lap. Butterflies and bees flittering from flower to flower. Birds flying through the sky. Whales and Dolphins playfully leaping from the water.

I see God’s imprint of love in every creation both invisible and visible. From the air that we breathe, the ground we stand upon, to all the stars in the universe, and all cosmic life. All alive in this wondrous life and love of God.

I now rest in the silence of God’s love...

Let us take a few moments in gratitude. We are grateful for these moments knowing our

at-one-ment. We give thanks for this expanded awareness of love. Thank you God!

So it is. Amen.
